We have been serving the Lord and His church for more than 20 years together. Our hearts were drawn, no compelled by Christ’s love, to give our lives away for the sake of those “hard cases” in life. We’ve encountered some of the most difficult and challenging cases imaginable and have learned hard-fought lessons along the way. Our experiences over the years with how God changes people has truly governed the writing of these workbooks. It has been a labor of love to put our whole souls into them. Our work with believers and unbelievers alike, from the inner city to the wealthy suburbs of Chicago has uniquely qualified us with what we call street-level theology. In other words, when we talk about God and His word, it’s not just “what does it mean?” but “how do I live in light of what it means?” that governs our response to the scriptures and changes our hearts by His Holy Spirit.

Six years ago (2019), we moved to the Pacific Northwest to be near our children and grandchildren. In that time we’ve rejoiced with our family and grown our own walk with Jesus in ways we didn’t know were even possible. But those years of learning, growing, and serving enabled us to help build a fledgling biblical counseling ministry here at our home church in Puyallup, Washington. Today, these workbooks are a fruit of that effort. God won’t let us keep them to ourselves.

Churches began asking if they could use this curriculum and we didn’t know how to do it. So, we started inquiring about publishing them. We now have three of the nine SoulCare Groups to be released by October 2026, with plans to release three more each year for the coming three years, for a total of twelve SoulCare Group workbooks by the end of 2028.
