SoulCare Groups™ were launched in the winter of 2022, in response to a felt need within Gospel Life Church in Puyallup, Washington.

Coming out of the pandemic, many of our members struggled more than ever with a variety of issues (e.g.: anxiety, depression, addiction). Equipped with a growing team trained in Biblical Soul Care, we felt compelled to help our congregation couple their faith with everyday struggles. Thus, SoulCare Groups were born as one component of our gospel-centered, biblical counseling ministry. These groups have transformed the way we care for souls at Gospel Life. We discovered that many churches long to care well for members who are struggling with sin or suffering but lack accessible tools to offer biblical care and counsel. This is our offering to His body, the Church.

“SoulCare Group™ Workbooks by Gary and Linda Baer address a critical gap in pastoral care within the church. Designed to be a ‘replicable, plug-and-play model of groups-based care,’ they make biblical care and counsel accessible to every church in a small-group context. The format of these workbooks is user friendly for both participants and group facilitators, making the topic-focused, twelve-week groups easy to launch.”

—Michael R. Emlet, Faculty member and Counselor, Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF); author of Saints, Sufferers, and Sinners: Loving Others as God Loves Us and CrossTalk: Where Life and Scripture Meet
